Why simple ingredients are winning

Why simple ingredients are winning

Hi there! There's a shift happening in the pet treat world, and it's all about getting back to basics.

Pet parents are moving away from mass-produced treats loaded with fillers and mystery ingredients. Instead, they're drawn to brands that feel more crafted and purposeful, treats that highlight the natural qualities of the protein instead of trying to disguise them. It's less about a specific diet trend and more about wanting to actually understand what's in the bag. When an ingredient list reads like a chemistry set, it's hard to know what you're really feeding your dog, and that uncertainty is exactly what people are trying to move away from.

That's exactly what we're built around. Here's what "simple" looks like in practice for us:

  1. Fewer ingredients on the label. If we can't explain why something is in the bag, it doesn't go in the bag.

  1. No disguising the protein. Our smoked salmon skins are a good example, crispy, functional, and clearly different from traditional soft or heavily processed treats.

  1. Full transparency on sourcing. You want to know where your pet's food comes from, how it's made, and why it exists in the first place, and we think that's a completely fair thing to ask.

  1. A focus on function over flash. Every ingredient has to earn its place, whether that's nutrition, texture, or shelf stability. Nothing gets added just to make a label look longer.

We're also not in a rush to ship new products out the door just because we can. Everything we make has to feel authentic to our standards before it ever reaches your dog's bowl.

Because at the end of the day, simple isn't a marketing angle. It's just the right way to make a treat, and the more pet parents look closely at labels, the more that approach makes sense.
