Hey there! Let's talk about the star of the show: our Atlantic salmon.
You've probably noticed most salmon dog treats use "salmon meal" or "salmon by-products." We don't do that. We use real salmon fillets, the same cuts you'd find at a nice restaurant. Salmon meal is a rendered, dried powder made from leftover parts, and while it's not unsafe, it's a very different starting point than a whole fillet. Starting with the real thing means more protein per bite, more of the natural omega-3s that live in the fat, and a smell that isn't manufactured.
Here's what that actually means for your pup:
-
Real fillets, not meal. Your dog is getting actual muscle meat, not a processed byproduct stripped of its natural oils.
-
Shinier coat and healthier skin. The omega-3s in real salmon, mainly EPA and DHA, support the skin barrier, which is well documented in veterinary nutrition research to show up as a softer, glossier coat over time.
-
Better joint support as they age. EPA in particular has anti-inflammatory properties studied in dogs with joint stiffness, which can be especially useful for senior dogs or larger breeds.
-
A cleaner ingredient list. No mystery meat, no fillers, no vague labeling. What's on the bag is what's in the treat.
-
More protein per bite. Whole fillet has a higher protein density than rendered meal, so you're not padding out the treat with empty calories.
-
A smell that isn't manufactured. Real fillet holds onto its natural oils, which is where that unmistakable salmon aroma actually comes from.
We're not trying to be fancy for the sake of it.
We just think if we're calling it salmon, it should actually be salmon. That's the whole philosophy in a nutshell, and it's why we've never been tempted to cut corners on the one ingredient our entire brand is built around.
